Update: Second Suspect in August 18 Kidnapping and Robbery Turns Herself In to Court

Hui Zang has turned herself into Bowling Green Municipal Court with her attorney present. She was released on her own recognizance and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 8-28-13 at 1:30 PM in Bowling Green Municipal Court.

 

The Bowling Green Police Division has issued warrants for Hui Zang, 23 of Toledo in connection with the kidnapping and Robbery of a University of Toledo Chinese exchange student. Zang was identified by the victim as a possible second abduction victim but was later determined to have been involved in the on-line chat that convinced the victim that he should go with her to Cedar Point. Investigation into the incident revealed that Zang had contacted several different UT students on the Chinese language site Q Q in an effort to set up the kidnapping and robbery. While on-line she portrayed herself to be a UT student in attempts to gain the trust of potential victims. Zang was present in the vehicle when the victim was picked up and remained part of the incident during its entirety.  The incident remains under investigation and 2 other suspects have been identified and charges for them are pending.
