BOWLING GREEN POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH

Bowling Green (April 26, 2012) – On April 26, 2012, at approximately 4:36 PM the City of Bowling Green Police Division received a request to check the welfare of 20 year old Kayleigh R. Chambers at 602 Second Street, Apartment #1. The complainant, an acquaintance of Chambers, indicated that during a phone contact with her, she had threatened to harm herself and suggested that she was in possession of a shotgun. Upon arrival at the residence officers received no response to their repeated attempts to summon someone inside the residence. Contact with neighbors did not provide any information as to any activity within the apartment, or as to whether or not the apartment was occupied.

Officers established a perimeter around the residence and summoned Crisis Negotiators and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team to the scene. Crisis negotiators repeatedly attempted to summon a response from inside the residence by use of throw phone and public address system to no avail.

At approximately 6:50 PM, members of the Wood County Special Response Team made entry to the apartment and found a female, believed to be Chambers, deceased.

Police Division Detectives are working with the Wood County Coroner’s Office to investigate the incident.
